The headline above is also the title of a book written by Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D.

This book could easily have been subtitled: “Everything you’ve always wanted to know about chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, but were too tired to ask.” Not only is the coverage comprehensive, it is written with compassion, care and concern for the person plagued with chronic fatigue and its related syndrome, fibromyalgia.

Reading From Fatigued to Fantastic! is akin to several office visits with a compassionate doctor. Written in lay language, but with an appendix for physicians, the book provides a detailed description of Dr. Teitelbaum’s four-pronged protocol for treating fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (FM/CFS). Incorporating prescription medications as well as holistic remedies in what the author calls “comprehensive medicine,” the well-known health challenge is covered logically and thoroughly.

Dr. Teitelbaum is unquestionably a patient advocate. His book demonstrates compassion for anyone suffering from FM/CFS. While many people in the medical profession label these illnesses as bogus, the author proves the authenticity of FM/CFS and offers a plan to overcome the infirmity with a helpful and hopeful discussion of the treatment.

The core of the book is Dr. Teitelbaum’s S.H.I.N. protocol. This acronym represents sleep issues, hormonal support, infections, and nutrition—the health challenges Dr.Teitelbaum believes must be treated simultaneously in order to overcome FM/CFS.

In addition to the S.H.I.N. protocol, the book includes natural and prescription pain relief suggestions, addresses the weight gain often associated with FM/CFS, and discusses the mind-body connection.

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum is a board certified internist as well as a leading researcher in this field. In the book’s introduction, he writes about dropping out of medical school for a time because of his own bout with the illnesses. His experience obviously motivated him to research these syndromes and also led to his compassion for those suffering from FM/CFS.

From Fatigued to Fantastic! is a fact-packed treatise for anyone with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia, written with the care and concern of someone who’s “been there” and knows these are real illnesses that the medical community is only beginning to understand. Thank you, Dr. Teitelbaum for your dedication to your work in this area and your ability to write in a clear and concise manner to help your patients and your readers.

The third edition of From Fatigued to Fantastic! is published by Avery Publisher, sells for $14.95, and is well-worth owning. You’ll find this book on the shelves at Freshlife.
