Become a card carryin’ Waterdog

"I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?"
Robert Redford

Waterdogs Training is a basic instruction class on citizen monitoring of drilling for natural gas in the Marcellus shale. The training was created by the Pine Creek Headwaters Protection Group (a.k.a. Pine Creek Waterdogs) to help make a difference in protecting our environment and assisting DEP in its role of enforcing compliance with state regulations.

The training class teaches citizens how to monitor runs, streams and creeks as well as other activities related to drilling for natural gas by taking photographs and keeping a logbook of documented observations. Waterdogs emphasize three important rules: safety first, don’t cry wolf, and collect accurate and documented observations.

Register now to attend this training. You’ll learn what to look for, how to document findings, who to call, and how to be safe and stay within your legal rights.
